I am the third of four children born to Earl
and Anna on a Thursday, May 25, 1950 in
Niscayuna New York. The first 2 years of my life were spent in
Schenectady, New York. The family lived above the church on the
second floor of the stately old building. Because of the harsh
winters and Dad's severe asthma, a pastorate in a warmer climate
became necessary. In February of 1952, the E. Watts family moved
to Milton, Delaware. I spent my early childhood days enjoying
the small town neighborhood life and innocence. In 1962, Dad
and Mom accepted a pastorate in Glassboro, New Jersey. I spent
my teen years there and graduated from Glassboro High School
in 1968. I then attended and graduated from Glassboro State College.

Answering the call to the ministry, I went to Asbury Theological
Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky where I met Candace
Lane Maund. We were married in 1976 in Vineland, New Jersey
and returned to Asbury as Mr. and Mrs. Ronald B. Watts. I graduated
from Asbury in 1977 and entered the United Methodist ministry.
I served as Associate Pastor in Linwood, New Jersey under the
leadership of Rev. John Ewing from 1978-1980, and then became
the pastor of the United Methodist Church in Tuckerton from 1980
until 1987. One year after moving to Tuckerton, Lindsay
was born and she proudly welcomed a baby brother in 1984-Jordan. The new little family thrived under
the loving care of the Tuckerton UMC congregation.
We then pastored the First United Methodist Church in Millville
until July 1, 1996 when I was appointed to the position of Central District Superintendent
(SNJ) and the family moved once again. The congregation in
Millville was nurturing and generous. Needless to say the family
thrived in such a positive setting.
Ron and Candy are now pastoring in southern New Jersey. Lindsay,
has a Master's Degree and Jordan is attending college. |
